Farm Family Awards
The 2008 recipients of the BMO Farm Family Awards were recognized in July at the Roundup Centre at Stampede Park. Presented by the Calgary Stampede and BMO Bank of Montreal, the award honours hard-working farm families and the contribution of farming to the province’s economy.

Duane and Christie Movald, from Breton, Alta., were recently selected as Alberta and NWT winners of Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers’ Program. The award recognizes and promotes young farmers who exemplify excellence and innovation and who have achieved success and demonstrate leadership in the agriculture industry. The Movalds will compete for the national crown Nov. 19-23 in Calgary.
Field Stone Fruit Wines in Strathmore was recognized by the NorthWest Wine Summit 2008 in which it received a bronze medal in the Non Grape/Fruit Wine category for its strawberry-rhubarb table wine. Also, Field Stone received the Mount Columbia-Best of Alberta Award for its bumbleberry fruit wine.

The tri-provincial Prairie Design Awards celebrates excellence in architecture and interior design every two years. The awards were held on May 9 in Winnipeg.
