Built by the company and designed by Cohos Evamy, the LEED Gold-certified education hub serves PCL offices throughout the western hemisphere, helping staff brush up on everything from building techniques to interpersonal conduct to leadership. As then-CEO Ross Grieve said, “The transfer of knowledge leads to profitability.” Though the idea of establishing an in-house school was that of Bob Stollery, the CEO that preceded him, Grieve handled the task in 1990, seven years before assuming the top job. For that, and for the 12 years of Grieve’s leadership that tripled the company’s size, the south Edmonton building would be identified as part of his legacy. After the CEO stepped down last fall, PCL rechristened the campus the Ross Grieve Centennial Learning Centre.
