The Contractor of the Year Awards Recognize the Construction Industry’s Best and Brightest

Edmonton, Alberta (April. 29, 2011) – Alberta Venture magazine and Merit Contractors Association are proud to announce the winners of the first annual Contractor of the Year Awards. These awards highlight the 65 billion dollar construction industry’s achievements by recognizing companies and individuals whose efforts stand out. Over 200 of the construction industry’s finest turned out to honour finalists and award winners at an exclusive awards gala on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the Sutton Hotel in downtown Edmonton.

Nominees were judged in four categories and across various criteria, including safety programs, environmental practices, staff development opportunities and the diversity of their building projects. Nominations were received from all across the province and the diversity of services provided is a testament to the robust Alberta construction industry.

Awards were presented in four categories:

Under $10 Million Annual Revenue – Alta Pro Electric Ltd.
$10 Million to $30 Million Annual Revenue- Unitech Electrical Inc.
$30 Million to $100 Million Annual Revenue – Territorial Electric Ltd.
Greater than $100 Million Annual Revenue – Clark Builders Ltd.

In addition to honouring the top construction companies in the province, one individual was selected who embodies the construction industry’s commitment to innovation, excellence, and safety.

The 2011 Construction Person of the Year – Roger Dootson, Vice-President, PCL Management Inc.
