Michael Casey, a partner at Field Law in Calgary, is also hosting that city’s biggest party since the 1988 Winter Olympics. The president and chairman of the Calgary Stampede has been promoting the 100th anniversary of the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth all year. To celebrate the event’s centennial year, Casey is telling anybody who will listen that this year’s party will be bigger than ever, with Ian Tyson as parade marshal and performances by Garth Brooks and The Beach Boys. Casey’s work has caught the attention of CNN, which placed the Stampede in the top five best places to visit in 2012. Combine that with Calgary’s designation as the Cultural Capital of Canada – which was secured in large part by the Calgary Stampede’s centennial – and 2012 is shaping up to be a banner year for tourism in the city. Casey is responsible for a large part of that.
