With new rules set to take effect in 2014, we look back at how the government has handled medicinal marijuana over the years

It’s an interesting time for medicinal marijuana in Canada, with new rules taking effect next April that change the landscape a bit.

Starting on April 1, 2014, Health Canada will no longer be producing or distributing medical marijuana, and won’t allow people to grow the drug themselves anymore.

Instead, people will have to buy their pot from a licensed producer.
