Alberta’s Best Workplaces: Who loves their job, and why?

Read up on this year's winners and finalists

May 22, 2014

by Alberta Venture Staff

The number of variations of “a good workplace” is the same as the variations of workers in the world. One person will be in it for the perks and benefits, another for career advancement opportunities or international travel and, yes, one might want a foosball table.

So employers must design their own workplaces. They must carefully examine their own workforce (perhaps via a survey?), build on their strengths and develop their own unique culture.

But one can always poach good ideas from neighbours and competitors. One can be interested in finding out what they’ve been doing to get their employees to love their jobs. So here, in Alberta Venture’s seventh annual examination of Alberta’s Best Workplaces, we present the winners and finalists of this year’s competition, and find out how they built their yellow brick road.
