If your company is being mentioned in the same breath as Netflix, Amazon and YouTube, chances are you’re doing something right.
“When you’re a startup company and people are putting you up against multibillion-dollar market cap companies, you can’t help but smile,” says Mike Lowe, president of A Parent Media Co. The company’s Kidoodle TV platform is a $4.99-a-month video-on-demand website that features content exclusively for children, allowing parents to keep an eye on what their kids are watching.
“I wanted to build a platform that gives kids a place to go where they’d be interested, could feel like they had their own level of maturity and were able to navigate on their own,” explains Lowe. “At the same time, we want parents to know that their kids aren’t going to wander into something they don’t want them to see.”
Backed in part by lottery philanthropist Tom Crist, Kidoodle is growing by leaps and bounds, and is now focusing on developing its own original content in addition to licensing other popular children’s shows.
