Why should my company enter the Alberta’s Best Workplaces?

Being identified as one of Alberta’s Alberta’s Best Workplaces can provide your company with immediate recognition to +200,000 business decision-makers through print and online exposure. You will also join the exclusive Alberta’s Best Workplaces alumni network, receive VIP tickets to the Alberta’s Best Workplaces Conference and Awards dinner, and gain access to a range of promotional material for the entire year.

How do I apply?

Go to albertaventure.com/bestworkplaces and fill out the online questionnaire.

How many awards can my company apply for?

Applicants will be considered in a maximum of two categories. We ask that applicants indicate their first and second preferences. If they are not a finalist in the category of their first preference, they may, at the discretion of the judging panel, be considered for their second choice.

Can I get a Microsoft Word copy of the submission form to prepare my answers?

Yes, you can download one at the top of this page.

I don’t have enough space on the online form to answer the questions.

Responses on the online form are limited to 2,500 characters. If you find that’s not enough space, you may fill out the Word document version of the application and email it to akemp@albertaventure.com.

May I have an extension on the deadline?

How much does it cost to enter the Alberta’s Best Workplaces?
There is no fee for submitting to this program.

Who can enter the Alberta’s Best Workplaces?

  • Public and private companies are eligible.
  • Companies eligible for the Alberta’s Best Workplaces list must have a branch office in Alberta.
  • All decisions of the selection panel are final.

 How is the Alberta’s Best Workplaces ranked?

The Alberta’s Best Workplaces applicants are evaluated by a panel of judges comprised of representatives from Alberta Venture, CHRP and Davies Park. Each judge submits individual scores based on general criteria including staff turnover and wage increases over time as well as criteria specific to each category. Scores are combined and judges discuss until consensus is met on ranking.

 When will I know if I have made the list?

You will be notified in March if you have or have not made this year’s list. List-makers may be contacted by members of the Alberta Venture editorial and design team for additional information or photo shoots.

When and where is the 2013 Alberta’s Best Workplaces Conference and Awards Dinner?

This year’s conference will be on May 23rd, 2013 at the Hotel Arts in Calgary. All list makers will receive one free ticket to the conference and awards dinner.
