In addition to recognizing companies whose benefits, perks and incentive programs are the most comprehensive, the awards celebrate Alberta workplaces that best meet the needs of specific groups such as working parents and millennials, among others.
The winner for the Best Overall Workplace in Alberta is Arcurve Inc. in the category of under 100 employees, Crescent Point Energy Corp. in the category of 101-750 employees and Servus Credit Union in the category of 750-plus employees. The full list of winners and finalists is attached below.
When selecting winners, the panel of judges representing Alberta Venture and the Human Resources Institute of Alberta deliberated on detailed submissions submitted by the applicants to determine which companies create the best environment for employee satisfaction. The awards highlight notable policies and programs such as RRSP contributions, maternity leave top-up, profit sharing, flex-time and community involvement programs.
“As Alberta moves into another economic upswing, we at Alberta Venture magazine increasingly hear of impending labour force challenges. To attract and retain the best and brightest, managers will need to be more imaginative, innovative and responsive than ever. This year’s winning companies know that great employees are the key to success and have therefore gone above and beyond industry standards in corporate culture and human resource development. The award-winning companies were unveiled last night at a private awards reception at the Hotel MacDonald in Edmonton and featured in the May issue of Alberta Venture, available on newsstands and online at albertaventure.com beginning May 1st, 2011. The 2011 Alberta’s Best Workplace program is sponsored by Edmonton Destination Hotels.
