THE VENTURE 100 BUSINESS FORUM
The Venture 100 Business forum is held annually in both Calgary and Edmonton in conjunction with the release of the September issue of Alberta Venture featuring the Venture 100 + Next 100 and PWC Private 50 lists. Presented by PricewaterhouseCoopers and Alberta Venture, the forum celebrates the achievements of Alberta’s largest corporations and is a unique opportunity for attendees to network with senior level executives from the Venture 100 companies.

2009 KEYNOTE BIO
Björn Stigson, President
World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD)
Björn Stigson amassed extensive experience in international business before becoming President of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). He began his career as Financial Analyst with the Swedish Kockums Group, then joined ESAB, an international supplier of welding equipment. In 1983 he became President and CEO of the Fläkt Group, a company listed on the Stockholm stock exchange and the world leader in environmental control technology. Following the acquisition of Fläkt by ABB, in 1991 he became Executive Vice President and a member of ABB’s Executive Management Group. In 1995 he was appointed President of the WBCSD, a coalition of some 200 leading international corporations.
He now serves on the boards of or on committees advising the Chinese government, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes, the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, the Clinton Global Initiative and the Global Reporting Initiative
ABOUT THE WORLD COUNCIL FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
The WBCSD is a CEO-led, global association of 200 companies, and provides a platform to explore sustainable development, share knowledge, experiences and best practices, and to advocate business positions on these issues in a variety of forums, working with governments, non-governmental and intergovernmental organizations.
Members are drawn from more than 35 countries and 20 major industrial sectors. The Council also benefits from a global network of about 57 national and regional business councils and regional partners.
