Coffee shops are versatile third spaces – extensions of our living rooms, offices, dining tables and boardrooms. We highlight a few favourites to check out if you find yourself in Alberta’s two largest cities.[What coffee shop is your favourite? Let us know and you could win a coffee prize pack!]
Credo coffee on 104 Street in Edmonton is lively, central and ambient enough that the baristas can’t eavesdrop on your conversation. Only problem is, the superb Intelligentsia coffee is such a draw, you may have trouble finding seating.
Deville, in Calgary on 1 Street SW, is centrally located with enough seating to accommodate small groups. Most importantly, the beautiful latte art and delicious coffee will help get your creative juices flowing.
Nomad in Edmonton is an espresso-bar-on-wheels that serves great coffee anywhere you are. A delicious addition to any office party, or as a special treat for employees. Only problem is Nomad is a one-barista operation, so the coffee cart can get a little crowded.
Getting work done
There is no shortage of tables, outlets and free Wi-Fi at Kawa Espresso Bar in Calgary. For more challenging projects, switch from that cup o’ joe to a glass of wine. Heck, make it a bottle.
