For most Albertans, being honoured with the Alberta Order of Excellence would be a crowning achievement. For Dr. Robert Steadward, the founder of the University of Alberta’s Steadward Centre and a 2010 appointee to the Order, it was just another day at the proverbial office. Steadward’s lifelong commitment to volunteerism and community involvement has earned him a trophy case full of accolades and achievements that would make Wayne Gretzky jealous, from his membership in sports halls of fame throughout the province (including the Terry Fox Hall of Fame) to his appointment as an Officer of the Order of Canada.
