In our February issue, we examine what appears to be a confidence gap between women and men when it comes to investing. But please, hold your angry letters. As the story also notes, women make incredible investors – studies show that when they do invest, women usually make more money in the markets than men. What’s more, studies also show that women in Alberta lead the country when it comes to having a lot of dough. Fully 34 per cent of those with more than $1 million to invest in Alberta are women.

Just who are Alberta’s top female investors, though? While that’s impossible to measure without some insider information, here are five of the best in Alberta, in no particular order:

Catherine Roozen
Corporate secretary, Cathton Holdings, Allard Foundation

Katrina Bonnycastle
VP of investments, Cavendish Investing Ltd.

Mary Rozsa de Coquet
Chairman and president, Rozsa Foundation

Martha Billes
President and director with investment holding company Albikin Management
Director, Canadian Tire

Margot Micallef
Founder, Oliver Capital Partners
